Lohm - Profile
Strongly influenced by his good friend Gijs van de Brugge (Rohformat), Lohm aka Ronald Van Aggelen bought his first musical weapon of choice in 1993, a second hand Atari 520 ST. Since then, computers have remained at the heart of studio set ups as he continually strives to push the boundaries of current technology.
Hailing from Eindhoven (NL), Lohm has long been influenced by the classic sounds of Chicago and Detroit. His sound can best be described as a quest for the fusion of styles: subtle, abstract, always evolving, a transformer of beautiful melody and soulful synthesis. An Architect by trade, his ability to construct and de-construct goes far beyond the realms of bricks and mortar with a strict emphasis on Live Jamming and one take recording - continually striving to capture the essence of a moment in time, thoughts and feeling.
Since 2002, Lohm has released tracks on various electronic Internet based labels as well as producing demo music for Traktor DJ software. After realizing his first 12” release with the German record label Deep & Dark, he has since released for Cobalt & Manuke with strong support from the likes of Derrick May, Kevin Saunderson and Laurent Garnier.
With a raft of solo and joint projects in progress, this is going to be an interesting year for this talented Dutch Artist.
