Owain_K - Profile
Acquiring turntables was a natural progression for Bristol born vinyl junkie Owain_K (Owain Kimber) after discovering the delights of bootleg mix-tapes and the burgeoning UK Hardcore scene in 1991.
Hailing from a musical family and encouraged to play the violin & saxophone, Owain draws on a variety of musical influences from Motown to Miles Davis via Public Enemy and The Clash. A principal he continues to express in his music, encompassing the sounds of Chicago’s Acid House and Detroit Techno whilst also giving a nod to dance music's roots.
A resident with Colourbox, Owain also makes regular appearances at Milgi Lounge and Secret Garden Parties throwing the odd impromptu session of his own for good measure, having played at various clubs around the U.K., Europe and Asia.
Thanks to the assistance of Mark Broom & Dave Hill at Pure Plastic, ADSR Music was founded as a label in 2004 for Owain and long time friend, Chris Poacher. Recording as “Digital Motion”, the duo draw inspiration from Kraftwerk, Derrick May, U.R. and Carl Craig in creating their own take on House, Techno & Electro with a series of well received releases under their belt to date.
Owain also continues to work on various studio projects, recording with Jamie Anderson (Artform/Rekids/Cocoon) as well as producing his own solo material. With releases on Elevation Recordings, 54 Music, Loudeast and Blacksoul, he has recently remixed for Kevin Yost's I! Records, there's plenty more in store for 2010.
